Gimkit
This blog entry is about a tool of my own interest from the list of technologies in the T3PP results ppt, the tool is Gimkit.
Gimkit is a classroom game-show platform that students participate in via electronic devices. Teachers can create their own question sets, a kit, or choose from existing kits. Gimkit can be used for introducing a topic, reviewing, or as a check for understanding.
Teachers can add the students in their class so students use their real names and have control over who joins the game. Kits can be made into assignments that students complete independently and are graded automatically.
You can add your kit to a game of your choice from Gimkit and assign it to students to complete at a later time or a live game can be played.

These are a few of the game options for assigned kits.
Gimkit connects to the 7 event framework in that it can be used for event 3, review, because teachers can make a kit specific to a lesson they have taught. It also relates PICRAT in that it is interactive for students.
Hi Lilli! I have never heard of Gimkit before, and this seems like a great tool to engage students. I will have to explore this further! Great post!
ReplyDeleteLili- the students at my practicum love Gimkit, and they love the Fishtopia game! I liked your Gimkit, especially the question about Ice Cream. It was fun to see the game from the student's perspective. One of the best features is the game review where you can check student and class accuracy.
